Private batch transcription for macOS
For interviews, meetings, lectures and podcasts: templobe turns a folder of English audio into clean text using models that run on your Mac. Sign in once to activate it — after that it works offline.
Free transcription for beta users. No payment. Apple silicon, macOS 13 or later.
Short answer
Run the speech model on your own Mac instead of uploading files to a metered service. templobe transcribes English mp3, wav and m4a files locally, up to 50 files per batch, and exports txt, md, srt or vtt. Audio is never uploaded, it works offline after sign-in, and transcription is free for beta users.
No card, no per-minute credits and no upload. English only in this beta.
How it works
Dragging in one file at a time, paying by the minute, or uploading to someone else's server — any of these turns a folder of recordings into an afternoon. templobe runs the whole folder as a local queue.
Meetings, interviews, podcasts, lecture recordings. One file or fifty — templobe takes them all as a queue.
Each file is transcribed by a model installed on your Mac. No upload, no waiting for a server, no per-minute meter.
Transcripts land in your local library with playback sync, then export to txt, md, srt or vtt.
Features
Speech models run locally on your machine. Your audio files never leave the computer, and the app keeps working with Wi-Fi off.
English is supported right now, with more languages on the roadmap. No language juggling: pick the files, let the model run.
Drop a folder of recordings, walk away, come back to transcripts. Progress and failures are visible per file.
Keep several models installed and compare results. Re-run a file with a different model without re-importing it.
txt, md, srt, vtt. Punctuation, paragraph breaks and number formatting are handled for you.
Every transcript lives in a local library with playback sync. Delete when you're done — nothing is retained anywhere else.
Privacy
Most transcription tools work by sending your audio to a server. That means confidential meetings, medical notes and interviews leave your machine and sit in someone else's storage.
No audio upload. Ever, including on paid add-ons.
The account only activates the app. It never sees your audio.
Offline capable. Sign in once, then airplane mode is a supported state.
Local library. Delete a file and it's gone from disk.
templobe does the opposite. The models are installed locally, the audio stays local, and there is no upload step to opt out of — because there is no upload. Your account only activates the app; it never touches a recording.
